Burlington's Pioneer Villages - Cumminsville
.
Introduction.
Cumminsville was named after Titus Cummins, a grain merchant, who settled in the area in 1844. This village once had 200 inhabitants.
In the 1850’s Cumminsville was the site of a post office, telegraph office, bakery, tavern, furniture manufacturer and several mills and blacksmith shops.
Location.
Cedar Springs Road between the hamlet of Dakota and the village of Kilbride. Several sources suggest that McNiven Road was the northerly boundary line of Cumminsville.
