6226 Cedar Springs Road. 1911
Behind this structure is a pathway which follows
12 Mile Creek. The dam is only a few hundred
meters upstream.

One of two dams on 12 Mile Creek in Dakota.
They were used to control water supply to the
water powered mill at Dakota. The sluce gates
were closed at night.

.

Further upstream is another dam. This one
is not on 12 Mile Creek but on a major
creek branch.
In the event of low water levels on 12 Mile
Creek this dam would be closed to ensure
adequate water levels for operating the
Dakota Grist and Saw Mill.
