In 1992 the interior pipes in the cistern broke - the school chose to decommission the water tower rather than empty it and re-do the pipes. The water tower was dismantled in the summer of 1992.
A new 8" water line was run up to the school in 1991, and this was deemed to be a safer, better option for water supply
