Area Information: The village of Baden was named by Jacob Beck (father of Sir Adam Beck) after his birthplace in the town of Baden in Germany. Established on the site of the earlier settlement of Weissenburg on Snyder’s Road, Wilmot Township, its development was spurred by the Grand Trunk Railway, built in 1855.
