The Museum acquired the Gibbons water tower in 1984. The building had a stove inside to keep the water from freezing during the winter. The exterior was repaired and repainted in 1994-95

Area Information: Gibbons is located just 15 minutes north-east of Edmonton. The town was named for William R. Gibbons. The town is situated on the southeast bank of the Sturgeon River which is a major tributary of the North Saskatchewan River.
In 1914, the railway line from Edmonton was extended along the east boundary of the Gibbons' farmstead. It received Village status on 1 January, 1959 and was incorporated as a Town in 1977.
