Tower Message: Yorkton.
Tower Information (10-06) Built: 1930 and 1999. The first water tower was manufactured by Horton Steel Works Limited of Bridgeburg ON. The old tower, a riveted structure from the legs to the tank, was torn down shortly after the new one was finished. This picture was taken in August 1999. Capacity: The new tower holds 1,135,623 liters Water Source: The City of Yorkton's raw water is supplied entirely by underground aquifers. The city draws from four main aquifers in various locations in and around the city. There are 14 deep wells varying from 13.2m (43 feet) to 58.6m (192 feet). The new water tower was one of the first steps in an extensive upgrade to the city's water supply and treatment capability. Area Information: Yorkton is a city in the south-east of Saskatchewan near the Manitoba border. The story of Yorkton goes back to 1882, when a group of settlers from York County, Ontario, established a settlement.
