It is located about 60 km northeast of Vulcan on Highway 24. Local history states that this name was taken from the Blackfoot Indian words, "Mista Katpiskoo" which Means Wood Village. This could be possible, as the site of the village is situated on land that was once part of the Blackfoot Reservation.
